Spring Time is Here!

Hello Kindergarten Families,

We have been busy learning about our planet, the landforms and the interdependence between animals and their enviroments. Students will be picking an animal or plant that they are interested in learning more about and they will be responsible for showing their understanding of interdependence through a project of their choice.

We have some field trips planned. We are going to San Diego Botanical garden, the zoo, and the Del Mar Fair. Please keep an eye out for more information.

Please remember next week will be minimum day every day due to conferences. Thank you for signing up- we look forward to meeting with you to discuss the success of your child.

Spring break is March 31- April 16. We hope you have a fun and safe vacation.

Happy New Year! It is so great to have everyone back! The students seem well rested and ready to learn. We have been in school for 75 days and it is amazing how much everyone has learned. We have so many amazing things planned in the weeks to come and we look forward to watching your child grow. Thank you for all you do!

Busy Days

The students have been busy learning about things from Long Ago. We loved seeing their timelines and how much they have changed over time. They looked at artifacts from long ago and worked together to show how various things have changed over time. They learned about the First Thanksgiving and dressed up as a pilgrim or native american. It was so much fun!

Special Homework

Due: Monday, October 10

Dear Families,

Our students are working hard on building a three-dimensional community in class. We are having them build buildings based on the occupation they chose in last weeks homework.

We would also like each student have a building that represents their house in the community (no bigger that 6×6). Please be creative and have fun with this. We will add their “address” at school.

Our Community exhibition will be in the Multi-Purpose room on Wednesday, October 12 @ 1:30. We would also like to have each child dress up based on the occupation they chose. (police officer, teacher, doctor etc.) We will not be dressing up at school for Halloween.

We hope you can join us for the Community Exhibition. Thank you for your support.

Welcome to the Ocean Knoll kindergarten website! We are so excited to be your Kindergarten teachers! We work very closely as a team. We plan, share ideas, and collaborate to ensure the success of your child. We are very excited to be developing IB units that focus on challenge based learning and developing the “whole child”.
